"They that can give up essential liberty
to obtain a little temporary safety,
deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Benjamin Franklin - 1759

The liberties we enjoy in this amazing country of ours were earned by the courage, and with the blood, of the heroes that have gone before us – men and women who gave their lives so that we would be free to pursue our own destinies, as we ourselves see fit. However, there are those among us who are convinced we should trade our freedoms for the promise of security.

STATUE OF LIMITATIONS
By T. Royal
(Original pencil drawing 22" x 30")

Our great country was built on the promise of freedom as well as security, and we have a responsibility to our children and future generations to stand our ground, as those that have done so before us, and refuse to relinquish the precious liberties that set us apart from those that are oppressed.

Moreover, we must recognize that to remain a free society, it is imperative that we educate our youth, many of whom seem to take their freedoms for granted, and exercise our voting power to elect leaders who will represent the interests of “we the people” by maintaining our liberties as well as our security.

Although I felt compelled to draw Statue of Limitations during the Gulf War, I believe it is equally poignant now, and it is my intention that it represent not only my own concerns, but the multitude of serious and diverse concerns that so many other Americans feel today, regardless of their political affiliations or positions.

                                           Best wishes for the rapid
                                              return of our civil liberties,

                                              T. Royal
